Here’s one for all animal lovers, an opportunity not to be missed if you love cuddling and playing with furry, four legged friends.
The Humane Society of Tampa Bay, Florida, is advertising a dream job for volunteers to cuddle dogs and cats by providing much needed TLC before and after surgery and procedures such as neutering and spaying.
Volunteers of any age are welcome but those under 16 must have an adult accompany them.
The shelter also encourages applicants to their program to commit to at least six months of volunteer work. Volunteers will also assist veterinarians and help clean up the shelter in addition to cuddling duties.
Earlier this year the shelter’s volunteer numbers dropped to an all-time low, partly due to students returning to school and not having enough free time to spend a the shelter on a regular basis.
At the beginning of the year, Liz McCoy of the charity told ABC:
‘’It makes me emotional just thinking about it.
‘’Nothing happy brings animals through our doors. So, when volunteers come in to make things better, it’s just a moving thing to be a part of.’’
Jeff Honig, a volunteer at the shelter, added:
‘’It’s very soothing for me, it’s very soothing for them. It’s just a great experience.’’
Other than companions for dogs, the Tampa Bay Humane Society is also taking applications for a cat companion to spend time with the cats, help them socialize and provide information to those looking to potentially adopt more about the kitties.
Several other positions currently available at the shelter include a dog play group assistant, foster parent, kennel assistant, animeals driver, surgery assistant and exam assistant
If you’d like the opportunity of becoming a professional cuddler, or any of the other positions available, check the Tampa Bay Humane Society official website for more information.
