A Photographer Comes Across This Rare White Baby Reindeer And It Poses Before Him

Nature is full of mysteries and we may have uncovered just a little part of it. Perhaps, it’s for the best that nature kept itself a mystery. That way, it keeps on surprising us in new ways. In Norway, photographer Mads Nordsveen came across such a wonderful surprise: a rare white baby reindeer.

When photographers are lucky, they get such amazing opportunities to capture a great shot. And Mars did just that, take numerous photos of this rare white baby reindeer.

He said, “I was walking in the mountains looking for nice landscapes for my travel photography when out of nowhere I saw this adorable animal.” The background is full of white snow that matches perfectly with the camouflaging whitefur of this cute rare white baby reindeer. The reindeer was also quite brave. It did not try to run away from the human. In fact, it posed as well.

But photography was not the only experience that Mars got. The rare white baby reindeer came close to him as well and they matched eyes with one another. It was a magical experience. Mars recalls,  “After some minutes the mother of the white deer came out of trees just behind. It walked around for some minutes before running back to its mother. It was very magical and a fairy tale moment.”

Reindeers become white when they go through a rare genetic mutation. This mutation takes away the pigment in their fur and hence, makes them white as snow. It also helps them to easily camouflage in their surroundings. However, they should not be confused with albinos. They still have dark pigments on their antlers and in their eyes.

Mars is quite an adventurer and he has often come across such luck of meeting other wild animals while hiking. He met wolves and even a Lynx in Northern Norway. He captured all of them in his lens.

And each of his pictures have a story to tell.
