You Can Adopt Cats At Otis And Clementine’s Books And Coffee

Picture this: you are roaming around the bookstore, looking for a book written by your favorite author, when lo and behold, you find a small little kitten! You pause for a moment and ponder, “Does this cat belong to the owner of the bookstore?” Then, you decide to let the thought pass and look around… to find more cats! No, you aren’t just imagining things, you most probably are at Otis & Clementine’s Books and Coffee!

The bookstore is located near Halifax in Nova Scotia, Canada, and has devised an innovative way to get people to adopt these homeless cats. Imagine curling up with your favorite book in one hand, a hot cup of coffee in another, and a kitty on your lap. Sounds like paradise, doesn’t it? The great news is that you can take the little friend home if you want to!

The owner of Otis & Clementine’s Books and Coffee, Ellen Helmke, has tied up with the rescue group named South Paw Conservation. Helmke ensures that the little kittens find a home that’ll shower them with love and affection. The cats that roam around the bookstore almost always end up getting adopted, making a place for the new kittens.

These kittens are taken care of by the South Paw Conservation and you need to pay 255 Canadian dollars (or 194 US dollars) to take your feline friend home. The fee for adoption includes medical expense and you would have to provide some references while you are adopting the kitten.

So, is the scheme successful? Over thirty cats have found a forever home thanks to Otis & Clementine’s Books and Coffee. Helmke believes that some people visit the store for the collection of books while others to play with the kittens. Either way, they end up loving what they see. She boasts of a hundred percent adoption rate that inspires her to go to work and give her best every day.

A member of the South Paw Conservation recounted how they rescued thirty pups from the Bahamas in 2019 and more than fifty local kitties. The organization is hopeful about future tie-ups with big bookstores who have room for these homeless little cats. This will, in turn, help them to provide medical care and food for the rescued kittens. Their goal is to neuter more kittens in 2020 and find caring homes for them.

If you are thinking about the health of the little kittens, then you need not worry at all. South Paw Conservation makes sure that the cats are checked by a vet, tested for feline leukemia, and dewormed as soon as they are rescued.

So, what are you waiting for? Hurry up and check Otis & Clementine’s Books and Coffee to support their and South Paw Conservation’s joint endeavor. Go, make some furry friends!
