11 Mind-Blowing Lessons We Can Learn From Children

Like we can’t seem to display the same enthusiasm, happiness, fearlessness, and curiosity as we once did when we were younger. Has our energy been drained over the years after learning about the destructive behaviour many men and women choose to adopt?

11 Mind-Blowing Life Lessons From Children

Has our motivation been destroyed by responsibility, careers, bills, and commitments?

Maybe so, but rightly so? I don’t think so.

Which is why I’ve decided to highlight some of the crucial life lessons we can learn from children, as adults. Check these lessons out, and tell me if you agree.

  1.  Always Be Curious

Children’s curiosity never ceases to amaze me. Yet, it’s to be expected. As children are growing older they’re learning quickly, but there’s so much they don’t know. They want to know about everything that’s going on around them.

Why do we stop doing this later in life though?

We reach a point where curiosity die. Is this because we think we know everything, or we think we know everything we need to know? Maybe it’s because we think we don’t have the time or energy to continuously produce this elevated level of curiosity from within.

Children learn quickly, because they are curious. And they find joy in learning and experiencing new things that were once completely unknown to them. Just because you’re an adult now, doesn’t mean you can’t find things that’ll peak your curiosity.

  1.  Be Fearless

I don’t think I was that brave as a kid, but I had a lot of friends who were. In fact, I’m surprised they didn’t seriously hurt themselves with some of the things they did.

Fears are minimal when you’re a child. You aren’t afraid to talk to anyone, no matter who they are or what they look like. That’s pretty awesome. Where did we develop this fear of talking to strangers and igniting a conversation?

A child can teach us to be fearless once again, like we used to be when we were younger. We weren’t afraid to fall down. Even when we knew it was going to hurt.

  1.  Express Yourself

They’re never afraid to tell you what they’re thinking, are they?

Doesn’t matter if it hurts your feelings, children will tell it to you straight. And that’s a pretty amazing thing; that they are able to express themselves as they wish.

I think we’ve lost touch with this side of life… and children can show us how to, once again, express ourselves as we truly desire.

  1.  Be Truthful in Everything You Do

Take this one with a pinch of salt, but it only takes one quick search on YouTube to show you how shameless children are when it comes to telling the truth. Seriously, check out some of the compilations people have uploaded.

Sometimes we hide what we really feel to protect someone else’s feelings, but maybe this isn’t always the best policy. How far do we really bend the truth, and how much does it benefit the people around us?

Be honest… that’s what this life lesson is all about.

  1.  Harness Your Imagination

Oh imagination, how I love you… You gave me the power to see what wasn’t there, but what could be. Children have the craziest imaginations. It’s incredible really.

I used to have so much fun in Art class and English when I was a child, because whatever I could imagine, I could put down onto paper.

Yet, over the years, you’ve been drilled into completing mundane tasks that just don’t exercise your imagination. And now it’s getting harder to unleash it on the world.

  1.  Fight for What You Want Endlessly

Kids, hey? They just do not know when to quit. They fight endlessly until their parents give in and they get what they want.

I like that. I mean, it’s annoying when you’re the adult in charge of them.

But, the principle of fighting for what you want is a solid one that always pays off. Parents, you know what I’m talking about. You may not always give in, but you find yourself giving your child something just to keep them quiet every now and again.

Why aren’t we this persistent when we grow up?

We take the ‘no’, instead of fighting for the ‘yes’.

  1.  Live Without Worries

Do children constantly worry about their problems?

Not really. Unless it’s going to the dentist…

Is this because they don’t have many problems to be concerned about?

We all have problems of some kind, no matter how big or small they may be to the individual. The difference is that kids don’t worry about their problems. They live in the moment and take things as they come.

  1.  Be Happy

Okay, so aside from the odd tantrum when they don’t get what they want, children are incredibly happy. And they gain happiness from the simplest of things. Is this because everything is new to them?

That’s a possibility.

But I think we can all learn to be a little happier from this.

  1.  Show Unconditional Love

Children love so hard. They experience love to its full capacity and intensity. They are unlikely to experience heartbreak, however. As we age, more of the people we love will leave us, through one way or another.

That’s a natural part of life, but it’s a tough situation to get through. And the more people suffer after giving their love, the less they are willing to express those feelings again.

The intensity of our love has been lost due to the fear of loss.

  1.  Forgive & Forget

Enemies one day, best friends the next. Just the simple life of any average child. Grudges and resentment don’t exist. Any arguments that occur one week will be completely forgotten by the time the next week rolls around.

So, forgive and forget.

  1.  Dream Big

What were your dreams as a kid?

I bet they were amazing. What happened to you? Why did your dreams get flushed down the toilet? I think you decided they were impossible, and that you didn’t know anything about life when you were a child.

On the other hand, what probably happened was that things got a little tough to handle, and you admitted defeat.

Kids know how to dream big, and those dreams shouldn’t be underestimated.
