If you are a 90’s kid, you know who Bon Jovi is. You probably grew up with Bon Jovi pumping his amazing music in your ears. Well, Bon Jovi’s ‘It’s My Life’ and ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’ has always been a hit among youngsters from the time it was released. Definitely the billboard toppers of our hearts. Bon Jovi does not require to prove what an amazing musician and singer he is. But did you know that Bon Jovi has a golden heart too? He is always trying to serve people in a different way – for humanity’s sake.

Bon Jovi has often been praised for his kind acts. He has a JBJ Soul Kitchen – a community restaurant where anybody can come and have fresh food. No money is required if you don’t have any. Bon Jovi is always looking forward to volunteers to help him in this venture. So, if you do not have money, you can always pay in the form of volunteer hours. It’s a nice way to get nutritious food to the needy people as well as get them to work so that they can keep their mind busy in something.

Well, the Rock star is surely flying high on this charity venture along with his supporting wife, Dorothea Hurley. They have opened another Soul Kitchen, this time it is the third one in New Jersey. It has been opened in the Rutgers University campus. The target audience of the Soul Kitchen is the low-income famished customer group – the underprivileged college student.

During the grand opening of this branch, Bon Jovi shoved the idea that students who are working hard can sustain themselves by just having instant noodles. He said there was a reason why he chose this area to set up the third Soul Kitchen. This Soul kitchen was set up “to play a role in alleviating food insecurity among college students and giving them the support they need to achieve their dreams.”

As usual, the Soul Kitchen menu has ingredients collected from the locality. The payment structure is still the same. You can pay if you have the money. Or you can volunteer. It will create a communal sense in the entire structure and help in creating dignity and respect for one another and the community as a whole.

The two other locations of JBJ Soul Kitchen are Red Bank and Toms River. As per their website, there are over 105,000 meals that get served and around 46% diners volunteer as a form of payment. 54% pay in the form of donations.

Bon Jovi mentioned in his recent opening that he has no plans to stop this expansion.
