Sometimes, being at the right place at the wrong time might just lead you to a dream you did not even know you had. Thus was the case with Mohammed Abubakar in Nigeria.
Twenty four years ago, Abubakar had finished high school and went to enroll at the Kaduna Polytechnic to continue his studies but arrived too late for admission. He had no option but to find employment and as luck would have it, he found a part time job as a cleaner at Air Azman.
Abubakar was a good worker and before long, the airline employed him as ground staff. The pay was much better and he learned a lot about the aviation industry. His bosses were obviously impressed with the young man and he went on to become a cabin crew member, earning an excellent salary.
At a later stage, he moved to Aero Contractors as a flight attendant and when the company started doing scheduled services he provided valuable input from his previous experience and this helped the company. The Deputy Managing Director was very pleased with Abubakar and gave him a huge salary increase.
Instead of spending the money, he talked to the managing director and on his advice went on to fulfill his dream of becoming a pilot.
So it seems, after the Polytechnic, Abubakar ended up in the right place at the right time, every time.
